최 석현 신부님은 1964년 대한민국 서울에서 태어나셨습니다. 가족은 1973년에 캘리포니아로 이주 하셨습니다.
최신부님은 로스앤젤레스 교외의 Hacienda Heights 에서 자랐습니다. 그는 Bishop Amat High School 에서 육상(투포환) 과 풋볼 선수로 활약 하셨습니다.
U.C. 버클리에 재학중 주님의 부름을 받아 사제가 되기 위해 이탈리아의 Angelicum 및 Gregorian Pontifical Universities 가서 공부 하셨습니다. 그 후 캘리포니아로 돌아와 Camarillo에 있는 St. John’s Seminary를 다녔고 1994년 6월 4일에 로스앤젤레스 대교구에서 사제 서품을 받으셨습니다.

최신부님은 2022년 말 신장암 진단을 받고 2023년 1월 20일 금요일에 58세의 나이로 세상을 떠났습니다. 2023년 2월 15일 홀리 크로스 가톨릭 묘지에서 안장 되셨습니다.
최신부님은 29년 동안 신자들에게 사랑 받는 사제이자 청소년의 사목자였습니다.
그를 아는 모든 신자들과 그의 가족들은 최신부님을 깊이 그리워할 것입니다.

Fr. Mark Won Choi was born 1964 in Seoul, Korea. His family immigrated to California in 1973 where he grew up near the Los Angeles suburbs in Hacienda Heights. He graduated from Bishop Amat High School where he ran Track (Shotput) and played Varsity Football at the starting Offensive Tackle position.
He attended U.C. Berkeley as an undergraduate before being called by the Lord to become a priest. His priestly formation started as a congregational seminarian where he was educated at the Angelicum and Gregorian Pontifical Universities in Italy. He later moved back to California where he attended St. John’s seminary in Camarillo and was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles on March 12, 1994.

He was diagnosed with renal cancer in late 2022, and passed away at the age of 58 years on Friday, January 20, 2023. His mother passed away one week later on January 28, 2023 at the age of 88 years, and both were interred together at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.
Mark was a beloved pastor and youth minister during his nearly 29 years as a priest. He will be profoundly missed by his parishioners and his family. He is survived by his brother John, and 7-year-old nephew Mikl.
